Lakes Alive 2018 announces new commissioning opportunity for artists
We are opening the door to the weird, wonderful and enchanting...
9 to 10 September 2017
10am - 6pm.
Brewery Arts Centre, Highgate, Kendal, LA9 4HE
BirdHive is accessible to wheelchair users. However, if the weather is bad it moves to a shelter and people will have to take two steps to experience BirdHIVE.
A brand new BirdHIVE for 2017!
We will take you on a 360 Virtual Reality flight through Lake District National Park landscapes. Utilising 360 degree and drone film making techniques, we’ve filmed in places that even our most adventurous souls cannot easily reach. Tipping over the edges of mountains, getting close to the texture of the fells and gliding, skimming the top of beautiful lakes. What does it really feel like to soar like a bird?
The films will be viewed through Samsung Head Gear at our wooden BIRD HIVE - a space created for touring to festivals. It doubles up as a perfect meeting and lounging point.
Arrive at the BirdHIVE and you'll be guided through your very own 'Flight' experience.
Access virtual reality headsets connected to our hardware technology.
Go on a range of 360 degree flights through the Lake District National Park landscapes over 5 minutes.
You can choose to repeat your virtual reality flight journey with a different perspective; everything is filmed in 360 degrees. The BirdHIVE experience will also be available to purchase via an app for use on the users own mobile device.
The Brewery Arts Centre is an historic building but has been extensively redeveloped and has good accessibility for wheelchair users.
For 2017 commissioned and created by Lakes Alive and Lake District National Park.
The original BirdHIVE was created by Lakes Alive, Draw and Code, Kitsune, Iron Bird and Woodshed.
