Join in and learn something new

With the programme hotting up for 2018, we have some great creative experiences coming your way...

Blazing Saddles : Performance Participants

We’re looking for up to 15 local women & their bikes to join The Bicycle Ballet Company in the creation and presentation of Blazing Saddles for Lakes Alive 2018.

All ages welcome & no experience necessary, apart from basic cycling proficiency.

What is it?

Blazing Saddles is a unique outdoor performance celebrating the importance of the bicycle to women and fashion, and the possibilities of travel and freedom.

The show tells its tale in a series of choreographed sequences, with movement and humour unfolding along two short routes around Kendal.

You will learn the structures and movement in each scene, taking a lead in some & acting as a chorus in others; guided throughout by performers.

Why get involved?

It’s an opportunity to develop new skills, boost confidence, work as part of a dedicated team on a unique project, meet new people & have lots of fun!

You’ll learn about the historical importance of cycling for women, and help encourage more people to ride bicycles.

Previous participants got involved to ‘try something different,’ ‘meet new people,’ ‘do something for their community,’ & ‘wanted a new challenge’.
